Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping or sports taping is a type of taping method that is used by Physiotherapists to improve stability via proprioception, circulation and reduction of swelling, compression,  muscle activation and assist with postural correction and normalization of movement patterns.

Kinesio-Taping

You may have seen gym goers and athletes with the multi-coloured sports tape on their bodies. The colour has no relevance apart from aesthetic but the way the tape is applied by the therapist will differ depending on the aims of the taping. Although Kinesio tape is most frequently used by athletes, it also benefits people who spend most of the day working in an office and as a result suffer from back, elbow or wrist pain. Many pregnant women also benefit from Kinesio taping, especially for their back, knees, and lower abdominal muscles. Tape is also often used post injury to assist a safe and confident return to sport.

Kinesio-taping can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, some of them include:

  • Ankle sprains

  • Swelling
