2. What exactly is physiotherapy treatment?

Physiotherapy treatment should always be tailored to the individual needs. It should be discussed with you as the patient after a thorough assessment and diagnosis.

Physiotherapy treatments can include any of the following:

  • Manual ‘hands-on’ therapy
  • Joint and spinal manipulations
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Taping
  • Dry needling
  • Electrotherapy 

2. What exactly does a physiotherapist do?

A Physiotherapist uses a variety of assessment and treatment techniques to diagnose, prevent and treat pain, injuries and postural problems. Physiotherapists also work with individuals post operatively to restore movement and strength and allow return to sport and normal life as quickly and safely.

3. Is physiotherapy treatment necessary (does it work)? 

Physiotherapy in most cases will speed up recovery and prevent injury re-occurrence. 

4. Is physiotherapy treatment painful?

Physiotherapy treatments can be uncomfortable but in general it should not be painful. Post treatment it is normal to experience post treatment soreness for the next 24 hrs but this should be short lived.

5. Can physiotherapists eliminate my pain for good? 

This will depend on the problem and cause of the pain you are experiencing but from a thorough assessment our Physiotherapists will be able to guide you as to the best treatment for you and if you require further investigations.

6. What are the most common problems they treat in physiotherapy treatment?

Common problems seen by Physiotherapists are as follows:

  • Tendon issues
  • Muscle injuries and imbalances
  • Headaches
  • Back and neck pain
  • Joint stiffness 
  • Post operative cases
  • Knee pain
  • Hip and groin pain
  • Gait and posture problems 

7. Can I use my medical insurance?

Physiotherapy is in most cases claimable on medical insurance. This depends on the individual case and insurance policy so we suggest our patients check with their insurer prior to a Physiotherapy session.
